The Edge

We all want to be competitive in everything we do. And no more so that with punting on horse racing.

Success in punting on horses, in fact most things reduces down to an information war - the people with the best information make the smart moves.

Books have been and still are the best source of general information, and this applies at least as much in the art of racehorse selection and staking as in any other field.

Author Paul Segar has produced textbooks which cover all aspects of punting. The books alone stand as a complete reference but also provide 'food for thought'. You can develop / improve your own ideas as well as learn some new techniques.

Each book is written in plain English with plenty of practical examples in each chapter. Browse the contents of each book or email for further information, if required.

Improve your punting knowledge today - buy one or all of these books.

Read the books but want more? It's time to do a course.

The Pureform Introduction Course uses a computer program to show you how and when to bet and how to do it successfully. Check out the details

The BIG ONES

Betting on the Cup

The betting on the Cup is one thing but we can probably bet on what the track condition will be at race time. Betting on Thursday was:

Friday the rain is here and the soft 5 rating or worse is gaining momentum!
Looking at the main two races for the day and the RC summary market:

Straight from the Ratings Calculator, this is the market in order top down starting with Muramasa.

A great quick method is to look at the top few in the market and the faves.
Muramasa looks a chance, probably place
Buckaroo ran against many of the runners last time and meetings Eliyass adjusting for weights and margins equal. Eliyass has drawn 20 which will come in to 18 if a full field while Buckaroo stays the same. Buckaroo looks a top chance.
Warmonger is also drawn off the track, did win from wide before but probably going to be too tough from out there.
Fancy Man could be a bolter with a 4th place chance but was beaten by 21 who may not get a start.
Young Werther has glue on shoes, will have to be really good glue.
Duke De Sessa will probably lead for a while.

Buckaroo does look the best chance.

Onto THE TAB Everest
Track is already a soft 5 so that is probably where it will stay, but who knows.

From the top
Traffic Warden a 3yo with many battles with Storm Boy, is back in distance and has Jamie Kah, hard to see a 3yo winning this but can finish close up.
Growing Empire yet another 3yo features high on the ratings.
Bella Nipotina looks a strong chance but gets back has barrier 12 before scratchings.
I Am Me should get a smother in behind the pace, place chance
Storm Boy, another 3yo
Lady Of Camelot, a 3yo filly has drawn wide, 1200 is probably her limit
Giga Kick gets his chance here and doesn't mind a wet track.
The other fave Joliestar does look a stong place chance at least.

If you eliminate the 3yo's there is little remaining at the top of the Pureform Market. Stefi Magnetica does look a strong chance but sticking with the market, we will plonk for Giga Kick for a 4th or better placing.
