The Edge
We all want to be competitive in everything we do. And no more so that with punting on horse racing.
Success in punting on horses, in fact most things reduces down to an information war - the people with the best information make the smart moves.
Books have been and still are the best source of general information, and this applies at least as much in the art of racehorse selection and staking as in any other field.
Author Paul Segar has produced textbooks which cover all aspects of punting. The books alone stand as a complete reference but also provide 'food for thought'. You can develop / improve your own ideas as well as learn some new techniques.
Each book is written in plain English with plenty of practical examples in each chapter. Browse the contents of each book or email for further information, if required.

The Punters Lament
I layed the favourite in the first
It got up by a nose.
They said it couldn't win for sure
At least I still have clothes.
The second race about to run
The pundits spruik the fave to loom
Race complete and fully done
All I see is doom and gloom.
The third was here for all to play
I layed the fave got back to last
Spreading field and slowly finish
My fear at last will it diminish?
The fave with gusto closing fast
I felt like prayer my only hope
Cash out gone, be still my heart
Photo finish I start to mope.
Favorite first, my cash departs.
Races run with clock precision
Along with that my own decision
My bets and me an abject mess
The end result? Way more stress.
I lay the horse it wins by lengths
Bet to win it runs in 3rd
It seems I'm running out of strength
Jim, stop your betting like a nerd.
Time to go all in I holler
To bet my last remaining dollars
No need to look beyond my nose
I’m all ready on my toes.
The omen bet for sure and certain
The end, finale, my closing curtain.
No 1. Gee Gee Double Up, so cool
A way to break my losing mood
Easy bet and oh so shrewd.
In the end it was quite funny
Right idea but sure no money.
My meagre bank now played and gone
Run along now sonny.
Would you believe the winning horse?
The omen bet for milk and honey
My day complete had run its course
No 10. Gee Gee Even Money.
